Welcome from the Dean

I’m delighted to welcome you to MassBay Community College’s STEM Division. I joined MassBay as the Dean of STEM in July 2024. The STEM Division is remarkable. We are excited that more than half of all the seats in classes at MassBay are filled with students in STEM courses. MassBay offers a wide range of STEM classes, degrees and certificate programs. These are taught, designed, led, and maintained current in the field by outstanding faculty in five areas of study – biotechnology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, and sciences (includes anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry, environmental science, microbiology, and physics).

As a small sampling of the excellence you’ll find here, which is supported by many, many excellent staff, we teach in and offer community and corporate involvement one of four Cyber Ranges among all the public higher education institutions in Massachusetts, we train high school students and scholars in two Centers of Excellence in Biotechnology, we support academic excellence through the Achieve in Math (AIM) Program, and we prepare outstanding engineers in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) programs.

Every summer, we also host the STEM Starter Academy for dozens of students that recruits, readies, retains, and graduates a diverse body of students earning STEM certificates and degrees who go on to transfer to a four-year STEM program and/or enter the workforce. Come check us out, further your educational goals, advance your workforce readiness, upgrade your career plans, engage in internships, and enjoy the company of other phenomenal students like yourself. We look forward to being part of your academic excellence!
