Why Study Human Services?

MassBay offers associate degree programs that prepare you for transfer into bachelor’s degree programs in Human Services, as well as certificate programs that prepare you for direct entry into the workforce. Our graduates enter meaningful careers in a variety of broad settings in human services and behavioral health; residential and community outreach services, education, recovery, case management, social justice and more, to support people from diverse and vulnerable populations.

Faculty

Jennifer Cullen, MSW, LICSW

Jennifer Cullen is a full-time faculty member in the Human Services Department, with specialties in Addiction and Behavioral Health. She has been an Adjunct Professor since 2020 and joined the full-time faculty in 2024. She is passionate about educating and supporting students who will become members of the local behavioral health and addiction services workforces. She has nearly ten years of education and experience in clinical social work, in both non-profit organizations and the private sector, and has provided treatment services in a variety of residential, correctional, and outpatient settings.

Elizabeth Hannigan

Elizabeth Hannigan, MS, is a Professor at MassBay Community College where she has been a full faculty member since 2007. She holds the position of Chair of the Human Services Department. She teaches traditional and practicum courses. In her spare time, Professor Hannigan enjoys travel and golf.

Elizabeth Watson, M.Ed. 

Professor Watson is a full-time faculty member in the Human Service department and has worked at MassBay in various roles for over ten years, including with continuing education, grants, and workforce partnerships. Her undergraduate degree in psychology with a concentration in human services led to opportunities working with children and adults with various abilities and developing professional training for those in the field.
