The Student Government Association (SGA) is the student governing body at MassBay, and is open to all students. SGA represents the official voice of the student body and student opinion on issues that affect all MassBay students.
SGA is comprised of twenty (20) elected students as well as several volunteers. These students meet regularly with faculty, staff, and administrators to improve the quality of the student experience at MassBay. SGA meetings are open to all students, faculty, and staff members.

Duties: To conduct all full SGA meetings, hold two office hours per week, meet with President Podell monthly, attend at least one standing committee per week, and represent MassBay.

Braiden Sullivan

Duties: As the Vice President of Internal Affairs, it is my role to maintain the records of all committee meetings as well as that of both the executive and general assemblies. Secondly, it is my duty to hold voting members accountable to fulfilling their responsibilities within the organization. Lastly, it is my job to create, update, and release the notes from all meetings and communicate any concerns with advisors.

Clubs and Interests: For involvement at school, I am part of the PTK Honors Society, the Journalism Club, and the Baywatch podcast. Regarding personal hobbies, I enjoy Exercise, Meditation, Drawing, and Writing.
Why I Joined: I joined SGA because I take great interest in the function of government. I wanted to witness the process from the inside and help ensure that the wants and needs of the student body are properly respected and represented.

Duties: To represent the student body at MassBay Community College, hold office hours one hour per week to meet with students, and bring their concerns and ideas to the SGA table. Moreover, meet with other SGA members to collaborate on improving the MassBay community.

Major: Business Administration.

Fun Fact: I’m a Chicago Bears fan.
Why I joined SGA: I joined SGA because MassBay Community College gave me the tools and encouragement I needed to be successful in the community. The more I became successful, the more I wanted to give back to the community by getting myself involved with SGA and serving the students of MassBay.

Duties: As the Student Affairs Vice President at Massachusetts Bay Community College, my primary responsibility is to address the multifaceted non-academic needs of our diverse student body. With a dedicated focus on fostering a supportive and inclusive campus environment, I diligently work to alleviate challenges such as housing insecurities and food shortages that some of our students may face. By collaborating with local resources, community organizations, and college departments, I strive to implement practical solutions to ensure every student has access to secure housing and sufficient nutrition. In doing so, my role extends beyond traditional academic concerns to encompass the holistic well-being of our students, recognizing that a stable and nourishing environment is fundamental to their overall success and educational experience. Through proactive initiatives and a commitment to student advocacy, I aim to create a campus where every student feels supported, empowered, and equipped to thrive in their academic pursuits.

Why I joined SGA: I joined the Student Government Association (SGA) with a deep-seated desire to make a meaningful impact on our school community. By actively engaging in the SGA, I aim to address the concerns and aspirations of our diverse student population, working towards initiatives that enhance the overall student experience. Duties: To chair, recruit and develop members for, and hold a weekly meeting for the Finance Committee, hold at least two office hours per week, maintain financial records of the SGA, facilitate conversation about funding and the SGA budget, meet with the SGA advisor monthly, and keep track of all finance-related activity in the SGA.
