Tuition Waivers

Tuition Waivers

The tuition waivers accepted by MBCC are listed below.  Most of these waivers are provided by the issuing third party and must be submitted to studentaccounts@massbay.edu for processing.

Most of these waivers only cover the tuition portion of your bill, which is $24 per credit. Therefore, for a 3-credit state-supported course, which cost $732, the portion which will be waived is $72.

Tuition waivers from MRC and MCB are sent to Student Accounts Office by MRC/MCB counselor. If eligible, purchase orders for fee assistance should also be submitted by your counselor.

Certificate of eligibility and waiver request form should be sent to the SCO at veterans@massbay.edu

Once your employer’s HR Dept. has approved your tuition remission certificate, this can be forwarded to us at Student Accounts.

Native American – Tuition credit form can be downloaded and submitted to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, which will then be forwarded to MassBay for application.

MassBay is proud to offer free tuition and fees for eligible students aged 60 years or greater. Students are limited to one free course per semester and must be 60 years of age or greater by the start of the semester to use the waiver. The Senior Citizen Tuition & Fee Waiver program will waive the tuition and fee costs remaining (of one course) after any other applicable financial aid or benefits have been applied. The program will only be applied to classes for which at least 11 students are enrolled.

Applications for the Senior Citizen Tuition & Fee Waiver will not be accepted until two weeks prior to the first day of the semester. Students eligible for the Senior Citizen Tuition & Fee Waiver must certify US citizenship and Massachusetts residency and present proof of age 60 years or greater.

Degree-seeking students must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be eligible for the program. Non-degree students and students enrolling in the following programs are not eligible for federal financial aid; therefore, can forego the FAFSA filing:

  • Emergency Medical Technician
  • Central Processing Technology
  • Phlebotomy
  • Computed Tomography

Senior Citizens can submit a copy of their Massachusetts driver's license to studentaccounts@massbay.edu to be reviewed for a one class waiver. For degree seeking students, the waiver will only be applied to one class that is not already covered by financial aid.
