About the General Studies: All-Brand Program

The General Studies: All-Brand Automotive Technology program provides you with both classroom technical instruction as well as hands-on automotive training. A generalized technical curriculum teaches you to understand and think critically about the major systems and components found on all modern automobiles, including hybrid electric and battery electric vehicle technologies. Automotive courses are heavily focused on learning efficient and accurate troubleshooting and repair techniques while preparing you to take the A1-A8 ASE certification exams.

Admissions Policy

All students must submit a general admissions application to MassBay.

Valid driver’s license (May be subject to employer review of driving record and drug testing).

General Studies: All-Brand Associate Degree

The General Studies: All-Brand Automotive Technology program concentration is designed to provide the technical competence and professionalism needed to become an automotive technician. The program involves academic as well as automotive lecture/ laboratory instruction focusing on products from multiple manufacturers. Students are also required to work at an approved automotive shop or dealership as part of the cooperative education phase of their training. The College has the academic and administrative responsibility for the program, which is certified by the ASE Education Foundation (ASEEF) in all eight-performance areas.

Cooperative Education

Cooperative education (Co-Op) is an integral and required part of the General Studies: All-Brand program. Cooperative education provides you with paid hands-on experience at an approved repair facility. All-Brand students are eligible to work for any program-approved repair facility for this part of their training.
