Automotive Technology: BMW ADP

The BMW ADP program is a two-year associate’s degree program designed to prepare students for a career as a manufacturer certified technician for a BMW or Mini dealership. We provide state of the art, hands-on instruction on the theory, diagnosis and repair of BMW vehicles.

About the BMW Associates Degree Program (ADP)

The BMW ADP program provides you with both classroom technical instruction as well as hands-on automotive training. The specialized technical curriculum teaches you to understand and think critically about the systems and components found on the BMW / Mini fleet of vehicles. Automotive courses are focused on learning efficient and accurate troubleshooting and repair techniques and preparing you to pass the BMW Associates program certification exam, as well as ASE exams.

BMW ADP Admissions Policy

All students must submit a general admissions application to MassBay.

Minimum eligibility for admission to the BMW ADP program includes:

• Placement into EN 98 Fundamentals of Composition II or completion of EN 90 Fundamentals of Composition I

• MassBay placement into Intermediate Algebra MA 98 or completion of Introductory Algebra MA 95

• Valid driver’s license (May be subject to dealership review of driving record and drug testing).

The BMW Associates Degree Program is designed to provide the technical competence and professionalism needed to become a dealership technician. The program involves academic as well as automotive lecture / laboratory instruction focusing on BMW products. Students are also required to work at an approved dealership as part of the cooperative education phase of their training. The BMW ADP is a collaborative effort between MassBay Community College and BMW. The College has the academic and administrative responsibility for the program, which is certified by the ASE Education Foundation (ASEEF) in all eight-performance areas. Students may also earn technical course credits for the BMW Associates Level training path.

Cooperative Education

Cooperative education (Co-Op) is an integral and required component of the BMW ADP learning process. This is where you will apply your knowledge to practical applications and start your career, all while earning a competitive wage. BMW ADP students are required to achieve 400 hours of supervised hands-on experience at a BMW or Mini dealership during the program.
