Book Store Vouchers are processed by the MassBay Student Accounts Office during the first few weeks of each semester start. The amounts are based on the anticipated excess Federal financial aid funds that are not needed to cover a student's bill. Enrollment status and financial aid file completion date impacts eligibility and the amount of the Book Voucher.
Funds that are used in the calculation of the Book Store Voucher are as follows:
- Federal Pell Grant
- Federal Supplemental Opportunity Grant
- *Federal Direct Stafford Loan (Subsidized and Unsubsidized)
*Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Notes must be completed for the Federal Direct Stafford Loan to be included in this calculation.
Students who are eligible to waive their health insurance should go onto Bay Navigator (the campus portal) to waive it as soon as possible. Failure to waive health insurance in a timely manner will result in a higher bill amount which may delay a Book Voucher from being issued.
In order to request a Book Store Voucher, please complete the Title IV Authorization Form to allow the college to use your excess federal aid towards bookstore purchases. This can be completed via your Bay Navigator account by entering the Student Finances & Aid tile and selecting: Bookstore Voucher > Grant Permission > review the Title IV Agreement > click Next > check the box indicating that you have read the agreement > click Submit.
Students that are eligible for a book voucher will receive a notification via their MassBay email on how to use their book voucher remotely through the online bookstore. Detailed instructions will be included on steps required to order books.
* Remember, you must have been awarded financial aid and have a credit as a result of the Federal Student Aid funds noted above. If you have questions about your aid eligibility, please contact the MassBay Financial Aid Office.
