MassBay Announces 2020 Commencement Ceremony Postponed

Friday, April 10, 2020

WELLESLEY HILLS, Mass. (April 10, 2020) — MassBay Community College has announced that this year’s commencement ceremony, scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2020, has been postponed due to the coronavirus.

In a message to students, faculty, and staff, MassBay President Dr. David Podell wrote the following, “Due to the current pandemic, MassBay is postponing its annual Commencement ceremony, scheduled for May 21, 2020. The College is considering alternatives and more information will follow. This was a hard decision to make and we realize it will cause disappointment to many, but we must put health and safety first. Please be assured that the College will have an alternate way to acknowledge and celebrate our graduates for their achievement. Please note that the awarding of a college degree is independent of a Commencement ceremony; all degrees will be awarded despite our not having the traditional Commencement ceremony in May.”

The College will continue to update the MassBay graduates on how we plan to celebrate this milestone.
