Kara M. Lucciola, J.D., is a Professor of Legal Studies and Criminal Justice. Some of her MassBay courses include Business Law, Criminal Law, Cybercrime, and Criminal Evidence. Professor Lucciola is the Coordinator of MassBay’s Cyber Innovation Initiative, and is a member of the MassCyberCenter’s Working and Education Group.
She is a member of the faculty in the MassBay Center for Cybersecurity Education.
Her legal experience spans over 25 years working as both a civil and criminal prosecutor. Professor Lucciola practiced civil litigation focusing on business cases in a Boston law firm and was counsel to the Boston Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Trustee, working with the Department of Justice. Professor Lucciola also served as both an Assistant Attorney General in the MA Office of the Attorney General’s Government Bureau (Trial Division) and as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, where she was a Special Victims Unit Prosecutor protecting children and the elderly.
Prior to joining MassBay, Professor Lucciola taught Bankruptcy and Trial Advocacy at Roger Williams University Law School. Professor Lucciola is a recipient of MassBay’s Distinguished Faculty Scholarship Award, its Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching, and is also a Faculty Criminal Justice Content Reviewer for Oxford University Press.
Professor Lucciola received her B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School, and also holds Certificates in both Data Privacy Law and Cybersecurity Strategy from Boston College Continuing Education, in collaboration with Boston College Law School and the Woods College of Advancing Studies.
Professor Lucciola is an avid fan of New England football, the ocean, and dogs.
