WELLESLEY HILLS, Mass. (November 23, 2022) — MassBay Business Administration alum, Jamie Druker of Framingham, MA, says he owes his career trajectory to MassBay’s Career Services department. “Julie Ginn and Kate Basch in Career Services helped me build my resume and steered me towards an internship opportunity at Needham Bank,” said Jamie. “They thought I was a perfect fit for the position, told me how much I could learn about the finance industry, and how I would gain countless insights into the field. I began my internship at Needham Bank in January 2021 and have been with them ever since. I was thrilled when they hired me to continue as a full-time employee before my internship even ended.”

Jamie started his internship in Needham Bank’s commercial and industrial structured finance department. “I was nervous at first, but it was a positive experience from day one. I worked directly under the wing of a senior vice president. Having that level of connection to a seasoned veteran in the business was incredible to advance my professional development. I don’t think I would have had as much access to a senior leader anywhere else. I felt the same sense of instant community at Needham Bank that I encountered when I was at MassBay. The staff and employees are a community—we’re all working toward the same goals, helping each other learn and grow. I’m extremely lucky to have had this opportunity. Being able to do relevant work and learn as much as possible in the banking industry is extraordinarily valuable to my future career.”

Jamie added, “I was able to continue my internship at Needham Bank after I graduated from MassBay. I was promoted to a project assistant position and now participate in more demanding and challenging work. My internship officially ended in January 2022, when Needham Bank hired me for part-time employment and then full-time for my summer breaks from school. I was excited to take those next steps in my career with Needham Bank. Everyone I’ve worked with there has been welcoming and supportive, answering my many questions, helping me understand banking concepts, and talking through problems. I honestly feel that they want to include each and every employee to be part of their team.”

“The faculty and staff at MassBay were instrumental in moving my career forward, not only by providing a quality education, but by supporting me to help me succeed in life. My business professors, Mona Khaitan and Andrew Wrobel, were engaging in the classroom and offered helpful resources to navigate campus and my classes, especially during the pandemic. They enhanced our classroom learning with a trip to Bentley University. Spending time in the interactive trading room at Bentley definitely piqued my interest to transfer there. My MassBay academic advisor, Sean Fortney, persuaded me to get involved with campus life, so I became a mentor in the Peer Mentor program and participated in the Leadership Engagement and Development (LEAD) program. Everyone at MassBay encouraged me and helped me get my career off the ground.”

Jamie graduated from MassBay in May 2021 with an Associate of Arts in Business Administration degree and won the All-College Academic Program Award for Business Administration, with the highest GPA of all program graduates. He earned a spot on the Dean’s List every semester; was inducted into two international honor societies for two-year colleges — Phi Theta Kappa and for business students, Alpha Beta Gamma.

Jamie is currently studying finance at Bentley University, boasts a 3.9 GPA, and is an inductee in the honor society for advanced business schools, Beta Gamma Sigma. He is on track to graduate from Bentley in May 2023 with his bachelor’s degree in finance. His future goals include progressing in his career at Needham Bank.

“MassBay gave me a chance to build my career, create my future, and set me on a successful path. Needham Bank has allowed me to put everything I’ve learned into practice.”
