WELLESLEY HILLS, Mass. (December 6, 2022) — MassBay Community College has opened registration for winter intersession courses, which run January 3 – 14, 2023. Winter intersession courses are intensive, 11-day courses offered for credit. Winter intersession courses are being offered online and in-person.
Intersession provides the opportunity for area college students visiting on winter break and/or enrolled MassBay students to take courses in a short timeframe and help get ahead in their studies, earn college credits quickly, or get a step closer to graduation.
“Intersession is a wonderful opportunity for students to take courses that satisfy general education requirements or pre-requisite courses for advanced coursework,” said MassBay Associate Dean of Admissions and Community Learning Alison McCarty. “Local college students who are home on winter break like to take advantage of the cost savings per class and easy credit transfer to their bachelor’s degree programs. With many of our winter classes delivered online, students can learn from the comfort of their home and earn college credits they need quickly. We also find many students absorb the material better in an intense, immersive environment rather than the typical semester-long format.”
Winter intersession courses start January 3, 2023, and classes will be held Monday – Friday for two-weeks either online or in-person. Courses that are available range from Drawing, Introduction to Communication, Oral Communication, English Composition II, Medical Terminology, Principles of Business Law, American Literature I, Principles of Management, Principles of Marketing, and Introduction to Psychology. Interested students can find more information on the course offerings by visiting www.massbay.edu/winter-intersession.
“I really enjoyed taking Intro to Psychology during the winter intersession because it gave me the opportunity to complete my pre-requisite courses for my nursing program in just ten days,” said MassBay Associate Degree Nursing student, Chen Greenman of Millis, MA. “While the class was fast-paced, I was able to immerse myself in the subject matter, receiving all the credits I needed to become one step closer to my degree. I also had plenty of time to still enjoy winter break – a win, win!”
