Share Our Strength Founder Bill Shore to Speak at Massachusetts Bay Community College’s May 26 Commencement

WELLESLEY HILLS, MA (April 29, 2011) – Bill Shore, Founder and Executive Director of Share Our Strength®, a national nonprofit that is ending childhood hunger in America, will be the commencement speaker at Massachusetts Bay Community College’s (MassBay) May 26th Commencement in Wellesley, MA.

Shore founded Share Our Strength in 1984 in response to the Ethiopian famine and subsequently renewed concern about hunger in the United StatesSince Share Our Strength was founded, the organization has raised $275 million and supported more than 1,000 groups around the world working to end childhood hunger.

Shore’s most recent book, The Imaginations of Unreasonable Men, was published in November 2010. Previously, he authored Revolution of the Heart and The Cathedral Within. Shore is also an advisor for the Reynolds Foundation Fellowship program at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.

This year’s ceremony will be especially poignant as the College celebrates its 50th year in service to the community. At the MassBay graduation ceremony, 622 Associates Degrees in Arts and in Science and Certificates will be awarded. Awards for Distinguished Service, Distinguished Alumni and for academic achievement will also be presented

The community is invited to join with family, friends and alumni to celebrate the 49th annual commencement at 7 p.m. at the Wellesley Hills campus of MassBay, 50 Oakland St., Wellesley Hills, MA.


Massachusetts Bay Community College is an open access accredited two-year public educational institution. The college grants Associates Degrees and Certificates in a range of disciplines. Offering more than 60 academic programs, MassBay, founded in 1961, serves Boston and the MetroWest communities with campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham and an Automotive Technology Center in Ashland.
