WELLESLEY HILLS, Mass. (January 17, 2019) – MassBay Community College is excited to announce Dr. Christopher LaBarbera as the College’s Assistant Provost. In his new role, Dr. LaBarbera will support the College's academic initiatives and will oversee the Academic Achievement Center (AAC), Library, Online Education, and Corporate Partnership and Workforce Development.
Prior to this position, Dr. LaBarbera served as the Dean of the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences at MassBay for the past five years. While serving as Dean, he oversaw the very successful college-wide OneBook Project, where the college and community read and discussed a common text, served as co-chair for the College’s Professional Development Day Committee, and was a member of the President’s Cabinet.
“I am thrilled to take on this unique opportunity to work closely with the Provost to advance the College’s mission of academic excellence and student success,” said Dr. LaBarbera.
Dr. LaBarbera previously served as the Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire and the Assistant Dean of Continuing Education at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) in Manchester, New Hampshire. Dr. LaBarbera holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College and a Ph.D. from Stony Brook University. He is a resident of Nashua, New Hampshire.
