WELLESLEY HILLS, MA (November 13, 2017) — Massachusetts Bay Community College is pleased to announce Michael Gallagher, of Allston, has been named MassBay’s new Student Trustee.
Gallagher is a U.S. Navy Veteran currently studying Liberal Arts and he has served as a member of the veterans club and as Student Government Association Student Senator. During Gallagher’s time in the Navy he was stationed on a destroyer in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and was deployed to Southeast Asia and South America. He returned from active duty in January 2017 and a fellow veteran convinced him to enroll at MassBay. In his spare time Gallagher enjoys spear fishing and he’s an avid downhill skier. His future goals include graduating with an Associate Degree in May 2018 and transferring to a 4-year college or university to study Economics.
“I am honored to be the MassBay Student Trustee, and serving my fellow peers,” said Gallagher. “I look forward to working with students and faculty at the College to increase student involvement and I want to explore the difficulties faced by certain student populations to help eliminate challenges to college completion. I’m excited to serve on the Board and I look forward to the year ahead.”
Gallagher was born and raised in New York and he attended and graduated Fox Lane High School in Bedford, NY. He was sworn-in at Boston City Hall and his first Board of Trustee meeting was in October 2017.
